Tense words from opposition in Ankara: They have no idea what they are doing

Deniz Baykal, leader of the main opposition Republican People's (CHP) Party, has claimed that he and other opposition forces in Ankara have been completely left out of the circle of activity surrounding the EU accession talks process with Turkey. Complained Baykal, "Administration supporters have taken up these important subjects in the AKP headquarters, without the presence of government bureaucrats. The Turkish Parliament was left completely out."

In a statement to Hurriyet, Baykal said it was impossible for him to approve of the actions Gul had taken in the General Assembly, when he left the speaking podium in frustration, and dropped a copy of the framework document on Baykal's parliamentary desk. Baykal had been insisting that no such copies of the critical document had reached CHP headquarters. Speaking about his refusal to take the copy of the framework document which Gul had dropped on his desk, Baykal said "At the point at which he showed me the document, it no longer mattered....Is this good behavior? They are tense because they see the bad situation that they have tied Turkey to through their actions. The responsibility lies on the PM and the FM. They are in a tight spot. That is why they are tense, they have no idea what they are doing."
