Anatomy of an honor killing

23 year old Hatun Surucu was killed by her brothers 7 months ago in Berlin, Germany. According to the case file, prior to the murder which took place on February 7, 2005, three brothers practised firing their guns at Berlin's Gorlitzer Platz. While the gun was supplied by her oldest brother, Mutlu, it was Hatun's youngest brother, Ayhan, who committed the murder, while her middle brotherl, Alpaslan, watched.  
Kurdish newspaper banned in Germany
Germany's Interior Minister, Otto Schily, has announced a ban on the Kurdish newspaper "Ozgur Politika" from this point onwards. Saying that "Germany's security was a priority," Schily authorized a police raid on the bureaus of the publishing firm behind the PKK aligned newspaper.  
A gang of wig-wearing thieves arrested
A gang of four thieves, who wore wigs as a disguise, were arrested while breaking into a house in Ordu. The thieves, two of which were women are believed to have broken into 59 houses within one month. The two male suspects have been identified as Recai C, 34 years old and Hasbi A, 32 years old and female suspects Hidayet C, 28, and Sevgi, 26, years were caught while forcing the door to a house open. 
IMF delegation to arrive in Turkey September 12
A delegation from the IMF is due to arrive in Turkey on September 12, to hold a series of talks which will run up until September 21. the delegation will be headed up by IMF Turkey Desk Chief Lorenzo Giorgianni. IMF Senior Resident Representative in Turkey Hugh Bredenkamp said on Monday, "developments in implementation of economic program by the Turkish government would be discussed in detail during the visit."  
Arinc heads for the US

Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc flew to the US on Monday to attend the 2nd World Conference of Speakers of Parliament hosted by Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) under the United Nations. Speaking to the press before he boarded the plane at Ankara airport, Arinc said, ''during the conference we will discuss developments about the issues which were taken up in the first conference in 2000.''
