An explosion killed one person in the northwestern Turkish city of Bursa on Thursday, the state Anatolian news agency reported. "At the moment we don't know what caused the blast. Our teams are making a detailed investigation," Anatolian quoted local police chief Huseyin Capkin as saying. |

Cyprus threatens to block Turkey's EU accession
Cyprus threatened on Wednesday to block Turkey's accession talks to the European Union if it is not satisfied with an EU response to Turkey's refusal to recognize Nicosia. Cypriot government spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides made the remarks after Turkey said it will only establish ties with the island after a comprehensive settlement is found and a new partnership state is formed. |

Russian children to return home Russian children that were being kept in a Turkish hotel in a dispute over unpaid accommodation have left for the local airport and will soon fly to Russia, the hotel management said Wednesday. Turkish renowned novelist Orhan Pamuk could face up to three years in prison for stating that Armenians were the victims of genocide 90 years ago, said his publisher on Wednesday.
