The trial continues for the 6 people, 5 of whom are children, accused of trying to burn the Turkish flag during Nehvruz celebrations sponsored by the Kurdish backed DEHAP Party in Mersin. Though the suspects themselves were not present at the court session yesterday, European representatives wishing to view the proceedings did show up, and were not permitted into the court chambers.
The two foreign observers, one from the British Embassy and the other from the Norwegian Embassy, were denied entrance by the judge on duty at Mersin's 2nd Criminal Court. The "secrecy" decision by the court meant also that members of the press were not allowed into the courtroom. |
