Speaking at the Eighth Eurasia Economy Summit which is being held in Istanbul, State Minister Nimet Cubuku said that the rate of women unemployed in Turkey is presently at around 9.7%. Although, if you take into consideration the population of young women in Turkey the rate jumped to 18.8%, said Cubukcu. "Rate of women's participation in labor force is 25.4 percent today. We can see that 57.2 percent of women are working in agriculture, 30.1 percent in services sector, and 13.6 percent in industry,'' noted Cubukcu.

Cubukcu noted that the rate of white-collar women was fairly high, "Today, the rate of women lecturers is 36 percent, and the rate of women professors among total number of college professors has reached 25 percent. 31 percent of architects, 29 percent of operators, and 26 percent of lawyers are women. We have 12 women ambassadors.''
