World Tribunal on Iraq concludes in Istanbul; results called superficial by Iraqis in attendance

Following 3 day hearings on the US invasion of Iraq in Istanbul, the World Tribunal on Iraq announced its decision, though it didn't manage to please Iraqi citizens following the conference. A panel composed of 17 people concluded that the US invasion of Iraq was unjust, and that Iraqi people should be awarded damages.

They also called for the immediate withdrawal of US forces from Iraq, and for the punishment of US President George W. Bush and British PM Tony Blair. The 9 person Iraqi delegation was not satisfied with the severity level of the findings however, calling the Court's final conclusion superficial. "There were no concrete conclusions which spoke to our hopes or desires," said Hanin Tarvat, a Baghdat University student.
