Talks prove Onur Air safe

President of Turkey's civil aviation Topa Bilgettin said yesterday that talks, which were held between Dutch and Turkish experts at Ataturk airport this week to determine whether the Turkish low-fare carrier Onur Air deserved the four-nation ban that the Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland placed on the airline May 12, grounding the airline's fleet, concluded that the airline is safe and that operations are secure.

"The results of the talks that we had with the relevant people is that the safety of Onur Air operations has once again been established," said Topa Bilgettin Toker, president of Turkey's civil aviation. "As Turkey's civil aviation, we never had any doubts on the safety of our companies," Toker told the press.

Toked added that the Dutch experts were preparing a report for the relevant authorities in the Netherlands.

The airline's safety had been under question since the ban took place, grounding the airline's fleet and stranding over 40,000 passengers.
