Saddam Hussein revealed
While Abdullah Öcalan can spend his days on İmralı island reading books and engaging in sport activities, the overthrown leader of Iraq is staying in a small room and washing his own clothes, it emerged on Friday. The UK tabloid newspaper 'The Sun' has published snapshots of Saddam Hussein taken in his prison cell. The photographs show him in his underwear, while washing his clothes and also sleeping. the paper also reported that Hussein can still afford to have his hair dyed. 
Iraqi PM: We will not allow any terrorist organization to harm our neighbors
Speaking from a joint press conference held in Ankara with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said that Iraq would not allow any terrorist groups to harm its neighboring countries. The newly elected Iraqi prime minister was in Turkey on his first foreign visit since the Iraq elections. In response to a question on the fight against the PKK terrorist organization, Jaafari said, ''Within the scope of the principle of good relations with neighboring countries, we will not allow any group to harm our neighbors.''  
WTO report ranks Turkey fourth for anti-dumping initiatives
A report released by the World Trade Organization (WTO) stated that Turkey is fourth among members of the WTO for initiating anti-dumping investigations. Dumping is a term coined by the WTO to describe the exporting of products at a lower price than the price normally charged in the local market. Anti-dumping is a move set to not judge the action of dumping but to help governments can react to it. 
Talks prove Onur Air safe
President of Turkey's civil aviation Topa Bilgettin said yesterday that talks, which were held between Dutch and Turkish experts at Ataturk airport this week to determine whether the Turkish low-fare carrier Onur Air deserved the four-nation ban that the Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland placed on the airline May 12, grounding the airline's fleet, concluded that the airline is safe and that operations are secure.  
Youth and Sports Day celebrated
throughout Turkey

Celebrations were held across Turkey on Thursday to mark the May 19, Ataturk Youth and Sports Holiday. President Ahmet Necdet Sezer visited Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Ataturk to remember the founder of the modern secular Republic of Turkey. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan along with other top officials laid a reef at the tomb of Ataturk, and observed a minute of silence in his memory. 
Iraqi prime minister in Ankara

Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari arrived in Ankara Thursday, as a guest of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Iraqi premier is accompanied on his state visit by the Iraqi ministers of finance, commerce, oil, electricity, and industry. Speaking to the press Jaafari said, "Our ministers will meet with their counterparts in order to establish improved bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries." 
Remembrance ceremony in Greece for the 'Pontus genocide'

A remembrance ceremony and march took place in Thessaloniki, Greece yesterday evening for the victims of the so-called Greek 'Pontus genocide.' A group of people gathered in one of the city's central squares shouting anti-Turkish slogans, and then marched to the Turkish Consulate in Thessaloniki. The marchers then left a written notice of protest in front of the Consulate.  
Armenia: Ankara has ruined the positive atmosphere

The Yerevan administration is holding Ankara responsible for the fact that the expected Warsaw meeting between Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Armenian President Robert Kocharian never took place. Armenia is asserting that in fact, the positive atmosphere that had fallen into place recently was ruined, and that a step back had been taken in relations.  
Kyrgyzstani students protest brutality in Uzbekistan
Kyrgyztsani students marched through the Kyrgyz capital. Bishek on Thursday towards the Uzbekistan Embassy in protest of the Islamic Karimov administration, who allowed the military's force of brutality to spiral out of control last week. The military showered a crowd of mainly women and children, who were protesting the government, with bullets fired from their guns in a horrific display force, to break up the demonstrators. 
Talks resumed over Onur Air ban

Talks continued Thursday at Ataturk Airport over the four-nation ban on Turkish low-fare carrier Onur Air between Turkish and Dutch experts. "The talks are going well, Turkish Transport Minister told journalists in Ankara. The talks are focused on developing a mutual cooperation and preventing misunderstandings. The Netherlands was the first to ban the airline on concerns of safety. Germany, France and Switzerland quickly followed suit.  
Turk-Is wants 13% wage raise from government

The Turkish Confederation of Labor, or Turk-Is, has requested a 13% raise in the first 6 months of next year from the government, followed by 5% increases in the second, third, and fourth 6 month segments of the next years.  
Pakistan: Osama bin Ladin is alive

Pakistan Foreign Minister Hursit Kasuri has said that Osama bin Ladin is alive, but that Pakistani forces had struck at the Al-Qaeda group's ability to fight, making them much less powerful than previously. Kasuri, in a statement to the Pakistani "The News" newspaper, didn't say whether he actually knew where Osama bin Laden was.
