Turkish man detained for human trafficking A Turkish man has been detained by Greek police for human trafficking on the eastern Aegean Greek island of Lesbos. The man who has been identified as 26-year-old Deniz Atisi was arrested Friday and is due to appear before Magistrates on Saturday. The smuggler was in the act of trafficking 13 immigrants at the time of arrest. It is believed that the Turkish people-trafficker was ferrying the illegal immigrants from Turkey to Europe. |

Ecevit's quotes fuel PKK campaign
Following the European Court of Human Rights' (ECHR) ruling regarding the Öcalan case, well-known terrorist organization, the Kurdistan workers Party (PKK) have started a publicity campaign based on a quote by the former Turkish prime minister, Bülent Ecevit. Ecevit has been quoted as saying: "I still do not know why the US handed over Öcalan to Turkey" . This comment has fueled an argument that Öcalan's trial was unlawful. |
