Saddam's brutal regime
killed hundreds of children

One hundred and thirteen bodies have been found and identified at the site of a mass grave of 18 trenches in Iraq. The bodies who were carrying identity cards at the time of death are said to be Kurdish women and children, mostly children. The graves were found in Samawa, some 300 km south of Baghdad, and is dead proof of the horrific treatment of minorities under Saddam Hussein's regime.  
Attorney general warns against politics in law

Attorney General of the Republican Court of Appeals Nuri Ok, has called for fellow judges and prosecutors to act in an organised manner against the “infusing of politics into law”. Speaking at the 14th Day of Honor held by the Attorney General Office of the Republican Court of Appeals, Ok made significantly bold announcements which are expected to create a debate amongst judges and prosecutors.  
Iraqi Neighbors in full support of
the political process

The meeting of Iraqi neighbors finally took place in Istanbul, Friday, and went off without any hitches. At the meeting high ranking official from neighboring countries discussed the developments in Iraq since the elections and the next steps to be taken in the country. In full support of the political process the group also drafted a constitution in preparation for the elections in December, which is to be discussed by Iraq's neighboring foreign ministers at a meeting on Saturday.  
Erdogan: We have overcome political and economic instability
Speaking at the first session of the Investment Advisory Council meeting in Istanbul, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey had reached its goals of economic stability creating a strong and attractive environment for foreign investment. The PM said that it had been a record run since his government had come to power and that the progress in Turkey was the credit of the reforms being implemented during his term.  
Middle East media welcome
Iraqi Cabinet but with caution

Middle East media officially welcomed the new Iraqi government, but with some caution and hesitation. Headlines in official newspapers described the formation of the new cabinet as a "painful birth", stressing that Iraq faced an enormous challenge to overcome ethnic and religious differences and to also end the violence that is plaguing the country.  
A little too late

Osman Öcalan, brother of the imprisoned PKK leader, Abdullah Öcalan, has revealed that his newly-found fatherhood has significantly changed the way he perceives politics and war. Armed conflict and violence is no stranger to Osman Öcalan, who for years occupied a top position along side his brother in the separatist terrorist organization PKK.  
İncirlik has been ratified
A governmental decree concerning US and UK’s 'more extensive' use of the İncirlik Airbase was finally ratified on Friday by Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. The bill, which was due to be ratified last week, had been delayed following a decision by the Turkish parliament. 
Turkey maintained a difficult balance

In Istanbul for a meeting of the Investment Information Council, European Investment Bank President Philippe Maystadt has said "Turkey has both brought inflation down and grown at the same time. It has successfully maintained this difficult balance. Last year you grew 10%, a rate that makes EU countries jealous. If it continues this way, you will reach a 500 billion dollar GNP in three years."
