Speaking at a University in Athens yesterday, The Greek Cypriot Leader Tasos Papadopoulos said that the problems of Cyprus could not be solved by a foreigner and rejected the idea that UN secretary Kofi Annan mediate in anyway over the issue.

Papadopoulos went on to say that Greek Cypriots were committed to solving the issue, but that it would have to be solved locally between the two sides and that they would not be following any calender pescribed by the UN.
