The 455 "Middle K" Crisis
It has been brought to light that the Turkish police are going through a personnel crisis of sorts, with regards to an "unfair ranking system". Police who graduate from high school and go to university (Middle Ks) are now being prioritized over those who graduate from the academy. 
Rumsfeld holds Turkey responsible for high post-war insurgency

U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in an interview with Fox News Sunday that had the U.S. been able to get the 4th Infantry Division in from the north, in through Turkey, more of the Baathist regime would have been captured or killed. " The insurgency today would be less if we had entered from the north via Turkey, the invasion from the south had enabled many insurgents to evade capture in the north. It allowed the insurgents to just dissipate into the communities."

Thirty-thousand pro-Kurdish demonstrators turned out in support of the PKK and convicted terrorist Abdullah Ocalan, yesterday, on a day called "Nevruz" in Turkey. Many criticized the demonstration for provoking unrest on a day that marks the first day of spring, and celebrates: peace, friendship and solidarity. 
Mans dies trying to save mobile telephone

A theft turned into a tragic incident yesterday, when a man trying to save his mobile phone sustained knife wounds that ultimately killed him. Forty-year-old Muhittin Gonen was stabbed by the youth who stole his phone while trying to get it back. 
Equality Now 2005 report praises Turkey's progress on Women's Rights
The 2005 report issued by Equality Now, a U.S. organization working to end violence and discrimination against women around the world, states that Turkey is among 14 countries which have recently made good progress on improving women's rights by eliminating discrimination against women in national legislation. 
Protest in Kirkuk against Kurdish rule

Demonstrators from both Turkmen and Arab Shiites ethnic groups turned out for a rally held in the northern oil-rich city of Kirkuk Friday night, to denounce the a transitional law and its article 58, which if implemented, would give the right of return to tens of thousands of Kurds to Kirkuk. 
US Ambassador to Turkey quits
The US Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman resigned yesterday from his post in Ankara and also from the U.S. foreign service. The resignation comes at a time when anti-American sentiment is on the rise in Turkey. 
There is not connection between Armenian allegations and Turkey's EU full membership

Turkish Foreign Ministry & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Friday that there was no direct or indirect connection between Turkey's EU membership and so-called Armenian genocide allegations. Replying to the written motion of True Path Party (DYP) parliamentarian Ummet Kandogan, Gul said Turkey met Copenhagen Political Criteria required for start of Turkey's EU membership talks.
