Rice's 'Mission Critical' in Turkey
The new U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will arrive in Ankara on 5th of February. Her visit will be brief but in no way easy. Rice will stay in Turkey for two days, and plans to discuss American policies in the region and also tackle the Iraq issue. This will be Rice's most critical trip to date since becoming the new U.S. Secretary of State. 
Florida Excuse for Kirkuk Fraud

Douglas Feith, the U.S. Under Secretary compared the Iraq election with that of the U.S. when speaking at a press conference in Turkey regarding the claims of fraudulent voting in Kirkuk. He told the Turkish press "What can we do? It even happened in the elections in Florida!" 
Psychologist for Ocalan

PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan is being treated by a psychologist from the E-type prison in Bursa. The psychologist will visit Ocalan every fifteen days. Abdullah Ocalan is also being regularly examined by two doctors each day. Reports about him are being sent to the Anti-Torture Committee of Europe, through the Foreign Ministry. 
Turkomans are Angry

Turkomans are angry about the claims made that Kurds got 68 % of votes in Kirkuk. Turkoman Front official Ahmet Muratli said “Because of the Kurds stance, Kirkuk has ceased to be an internal affair for Iraq and has now become an international issue. Turkey also has the right to comment on this issue and should continue to comment on it." 
Fisher says 'Turkey Heading in the Right Direction'
Stanley Fischer, the former Deputy President of IMF who is now Governor of the Israeli Central Bank, said that Turkey's economic program has gained credibility and its economy was in good shape and heading in the right direction. 
1330 Greek Cypriots Sue Turkey for 25 Billion Dollars
Greek Cypriot woman Titina lozidiu won compensation of nearly 1 million dollars in 1998 from Turkey on grounds that she had not been allowed to visit her home in Northern Cyprus since 1974. Turkey had been warned three times by the European Council for refusing to pay the compensation, claiming it was political. At the end of 2003 Turkey paid compensation nearing 2 million dollars to the woman.
