Oktay Eksi: This issue Should be Resolved Immediately

Recalling that Emine Erdogan handed the necklace to the Treasury and return the silk carpet to the show owner in Moscow, Eksi says that "We thought that this issue was closed. But we were mistaken. Because later on, gifts presented to other state officials came to the agenda.

"But not that, in the past, nobody presented or received costly gifts but there were no precautions for these.

"That is because it is almost impossible to find someone that does not almost melt,. When presented a costly gift. Therefore, no rules are imposed nor someone that implements any rule, emerges."

"...Pakdemirli says that a silk carped given to him by a foreigners and worth 10 thousand dollars should have been registered in the Treasury, but has not. Let us say that there is nothing to be astonished at this. Not only these, but paintings, crystal vases, rare porcelain and others can survive as much as the mercy of the people who are official at the time of presenting them.

"Then, during the replacement of authorities, some of these evaporate... Not only costly presents but also we have a history of grabbing historical works... All these show that we need meaningful, applicable and effective rules in both costly gifts and the national heritage..."
