Former Naval Forces Commander Erdil Stands Trial for Negligence of Duty
Former Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ilhami Erdil is standing trial for negligence of duty and acquiring unfair wealth. He is facing a prison sentence of 18 months. Two generals are among the panel of judges that are trying Erdil. In the case launched by the military prosecutor of the General Staff, wife of Erdil, Fusun and his daughter Erdil are also facing accusations. |

Barnier said Genocide Again
France Foreign Minister Michel Barnier said that during the negotiations between Turkey and EU, they will mention about all the subjects including “Armenian genocide”. The French National Assembly will today discuss the EU decision about Turkey. It is expected that Chirac will have fierce critics in the session. |

For the second time in the Republic’s history, a force commander is standing trial which is open to the press. In the General Staff Military Court where former Air force Commander Emin Alpkaya had been tried and found not guilty on 8 April 1974, former Naval Forces Commander İlhami Erdil, his wife and daughter will stand trial today. |
