Firat said that “I feel disturbed of being mentioned along the name of Leyla Zana. She lack a strong political formation. Her education is not suitable for that. But she looks pretty in pictures. What her formation is and what does she deserve, are not being discussed.

“Leyla is unable to grasp the meaning of the text she has signed. When a discussion broke out she withdrew. That she was awarded the Sakharow Peace Prize is because of the hypocrisy of Europe. There were people in more serious condition than her.”

Firat added that “Yasar Kemal said he liked the text, but said that “Its timing could be discussed ; I wish you success” and he did not sign it. Melik Firat did not sign it either.”
