Leyla Zana and her friends gave a half-page advert to the Herald Tribune saying that “Turkey should recognise all the rights of Kurds which are recognised by Spain for Basque and Catalan, by Belgium for Valons and which is demands for Turkish Cypriots.” The demands voiced by Zana and her friends put Turkey in a difficult position ahead of December 17 and gave an important card to the countries which are against giving a negotiating date to Turkey. |

Turkish Soldier Injures American General
When American General Peter Sutton was passing through the foreign lines, the revolver of a Turkish soldier on duty in the airport fell to the floor and fired. A piece of the bullet coming from the automatic gun, injured the general on his left foot. The visiting general was treated at hospital. The Turkish soldier was taken under custody. |

Record in Unregistered Man power The share of those employed in Turkey without any registry, to the total man force set a record of 55.4 % in the 3rd quarter of this year. The State Statistics Institute revealed that of the total employees of 22 million 847 thousand, 55.4 % (12 million 675 thousand) are working without any social security. |

High Rents Cause Fear The Central Bank announced that the falling tendency of inflation might somewhat blow down in the first 4 months of 2005 and there might even be an upwards trend until May. The Bank said that the year-end inflation target will be 8 %, but the 20 % increase in rents was an unexpected development in economy. |
