The referendum of the French Socialist Party on the EU referendum produced a 59 % Yes. The referendum concerned Turkey’s membership indirectly. The Socialists in opposition in France held a referendum among their 120 thousand members on the EU referendum to be voted in June 2005, which produces a Yes answer. |

Per Capita Income to be 8500 Euro by 2014
Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener said that they planned the income per capita in Turkey to be between 8000-8500 Euro in 2014 and 12000-14500 Euro in 2020. In a press conference, after the State Planning Organization (DPT) report entitled “The Possible Effects of Turkey’s Membership on EU”, Sener said that the national income of Turkey in 2004 had become 241 billion dollars and they planned to increase it to 8000-8500 Euro in 2014. |

Lesser Students of Preachers’ Schools The number of students attending the Preachers’ School fell. Records of the last two years showed that 37 thousand 373 students had enrolled to the IHLs in 2003-2004 and this number fell by 12.9 % to 32 thousand 544, especially after these schools were turned into 8-year primary education schools. |

Armenian Demand from EU Armenian President Robert Kocarian called on the European Union to take up the issue of the border of Turkey which is closed to his country, in the December 17 summit. Armenian Foreign Minister Oskanian said that “Our President pleaded to the EU to take up this issue in the summit.” |
