Kurd Quarrel

The Minority Report of the Prime Ministerial Human Rights Advisory Board which led to big repercussions in Turkey, made two deputies of Republican People’s Party (CHP) to make a discussion in front of foreigners, at the Parliamentary Human Rights Monitoring Board.

Jonathan Sugden, the representative of the International Human rights Monitoring Board and a number of NGO representatives from Turkey visited the Commission on Thursday.  The Commission’s Chairmen Mehmet Elkatmis, some other deputies from Justice and Development Party (AKP), CHP’s Turan Tuysuz from Sanliurfa and Ozlem Cercioglu from Aydin.

While discussing the Minorities Report, Tuysuz from CHP said that “I am also a Kurd. There was big hassle over the report. Even my CHP flunked, in spite of its being social democrat.” Cercioglu got angry at this remark and hit back, saying, “The stance of CHP was correct. There is no flunking at all.”  Cercioglu then left the room and   complained to the officials of the party, about Tuysuz.
