Ozal Baysal who was the Gereal Director of the Tansu Ciller era was released from prison after 6 years. He was captured 2 years following his escape.

Baysal is the only public bant official who has been punished and put into prison for looting public bank. In a letter he sent to the Inspection Board defending himself, Baysal  had accused then-Prime Minister Tansu Ciller and her husband Ozer. His attorney Yalcin Kasaroglu said "Baysal did the things ordered to him by the prime minister and her circle. He does not have a single penny now."
