Arinc could not have found the required 367 votes at the first two rounds of voting. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s coming to Parliament was influential in the increase of votes of Arinc at the third round of yesterday.
Bulent Arinc could not have found the necessary 367 votes at the first two rounds of voting in which AKP Izmir deputy Serpil Yildiz was his competitor. When Yildiz withdrew from candidacy at the third round in which 276 votes would suffice, Arinc was elected as speaker for the second.
