World Bank: EU Must Launch the Negotiations

World Bank Chairman James Wolfensohn said that the World Bank supported the launching of membership negotiations between Turkey and the EU and hoped the EU would render a decision towards this direction.

Holding a press conference in Washington before the fall meetings of IMF and the World Bank at the weekend, Wolfensohn said that the World Bank was a staunch supporter over the things the Turkish government was performing.

He also added that the World Bank gave a guarantee to Turkey in respect of the continuity of support as regards the reforms realized by Turkey. Wolfensohn stated that Turkey was economically going very good, increasing her reserves, but the World Bank was ready to help when she needed help from us.
