A report of the Center entitled "The European Mutation in Modern Turkey" has a positive stance towards the economic and political implications of Turkey's membership to EU. According to the report, the prosperity of Turkey which will benefit from the EU common agriculture policy funds and regional assistance will boom in a decade and eventually it will make a big contribution to the budget of the Union.
The report went on to say that launching talks with Turkey in a fast manner will make a very positive impact on the macro economic indicators of the country and will facilitate the fall of interest rates, narrowing of the budget deficit and ensure stability in the markets.
The Brussels-headquartered ASEM also said that "Because of its strategic location, Turkey could integrate the common foreign policy of EU, once it begins accession talks."
The report also said against assertions that Turkey was pro-Israeli and pro-U.S. that, Turkey had proven that it could resist the pressures of Washington, to join the Iraq War and "If Ankara joins EU with the support of U.S. it will be able to get rid of the guardianship of Washington."
