Children in Telafer Named after Gul

In Turkoman city Telafer in Northern Iraq, where 66 people were killed in a recent U.S. raid, Turkoman people are naming their new born, after Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, who voiced support to them.  
Mad Cow Disease from Britain
British Times daily reported that blood products containing the Mad Cow virus were exported by Britain to eleven countries, including Turkey. Upon the news The Turkish Health Ministry asked information from Britain about the blood products supplied by this country between the years 1995-97. 
Cevik Bir: There will be no Coup
Retired General Cevik Bir reacted that his statement that “We shall not carry out any coup even if EU denied a date to us” was reported as if he spoke on behalf of the army. Bir told Italian La Reppublica daily that he had not said anything about EU’s denying a negotiating date to Turkey.

Barnier: Referendum not Before 15 years
After French Finance and Economy Minister Sarzosy said that a referendum should be held in his country on Turkey’s EU membership, Foreign Minister Michel Barnier said that he supported the idea of a referendum but this could be done after membership talks with Turkey are concluded.
