That Blue Voyage Changed Everything

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Hurriyet's Editor in Chief Ertugrul Ozkok at his summer residence Bacarov Rucey in Soci. Putin said that a yacht voyage he had at Antalya coasts changed totally his opinion about Turkey and Turkish people.

He said, "Indeed, when I was working at KGB, Turkey appeared to be an enemy country to my eyes as a NATO member. Later I made two journeys to Turkey. In one of them, we rented a small yacht and toured around the coasts. The yacht had two Turkish personnel. Our friendship improved so much that I understood that we could not be enemies with these people. These two people were neither politicians nor businessmen; they were just doing their jobs."

He added, "We determine with pleasure that Turkey acts really as an independent state in the last period. Turkey's prestige increases more and more. Erdogan is a leader who is a man of his word. He fulfils what he promises."
