Ahead of the 2-3 September visit of Russian Head of State Vladimir Putin to Turkey, Russia is reportedly preparing to make a surprising offer to Turkey regarding the Erdogan helicopters. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov will tell in his contacts with Turkish officials that his country will not enter a partnership with Israel for the Kamov 50-2 helicopters which are called as Erdogan.
By this step, Russia will try to eliminate the sensitivities of the Akp government towards Israel. Turksih officials will only note the proposal of Russia since the date of the bid has not been determined yet.
The helicopter tender which was cancelled a while ago was awarded with the American Bell Textron company's King Cobra. Erdogan had ranked second.
