Reactions continue towards the kidnapping of the French reporters Georges Malbrunot and Christian Chesnot in Iraq by a religious group demanding the annulment of law banning the religious symbols at the state schools in France.
EU Joint Defense and Foreign Policy High Representative Javier Solana asked for the release of French reporters immediately. Meanwhile, at the European Parliament, 160 members of the European Parliament drafted a petition with the leadership of Dutch socialist parliamenter Thijs Berman. The petition demanded for the French reporters, who were kept hostages, to be released as soon as possible.
At the joint declaration of the Turkish Reporters Association and Modern Reporters Association, the immediate release of two French reporters were demanded.
