Hurriyet went to Adis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, and talked with the family of our national athlete Elvan Abeylegesse. Elvan's father Abey prefered to keep silent and Elvan's brother Derece said that his sister was influential at home.
When our national athlete came the 12th at 5000 metres race in Athens, she was disturbed with the news at Turkish press and gave instructions to her family in Adis Ababa not to talk with the press members again. As they were poor, Elvan was funding her family and the four sisters and three brothers were always listening to her.
