Appeals Court President Eraslan Ozkaya who was involved in the Cakici scandal and was called on to step down, by the court's Prosecutor Nuri Ok, bent to pressures and took a 20-day sick leave on Friday.
Ozkaya who had underwent a by-pass surgery and has reportedly "Some medical problems due to the apparent atmosphere" will not inaugurate the judicial year. The first Acting President, Mater kaban will inaugurate the judicial year instead. Ozkaya has reportedly told his friends, "Why should I resign? I believe that I will be cleared off."
