Here is the Justification of AKP in Including Adultery to Penal Code

Justice and Development Party explained its initiative to insert the article on adultery to the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) motion, saying that "This is what the Anatolian women desire."

Hakki Köylu, AKP's TCK Sub-Commission Chairman, said that the housewives in Anatolia had showered the commission with their letters, asking it to include Adultery to TCK as a crime.

Main opposition Republican People's Party's (CHP) Orhan Eraslan, recalled that Justice Minister Cemil Cicek has said that "We are preparing a new TCK so as to harmonize with EU" and said, "In which EU country, adultery is deemed a crime?"

Surprising Support by Baykal

However in late hours Friday, the conflict between CHP and AKP on the issue, relaxed. CHP leader Deniz Baykal told his aides that "Our party does not  oppose to adultery being considered as a crime. If equality between men and women is secured, then we shall not raise objections to making adultery a crime."
