Government Promised Gas Stations Gave up Strike

After receiving a promise from the government for the hike they demanded on the gasoline they supply, owners of gasoline stations gave up their strike planned for today.

The main distributors and retailers of fuel oil were to close off today over the rejection of their 2-Cent increase demand on their profit margin by the government.

The government reportedly promised to the stations to take up the issue in its meeting today. However, economy officials said that the 2-Cent increase demand of gasoline stations was not feasible as it would cost 300 trillion TL in the next 5 months and 1 quadrililon TL for 2005 and the poor ones were to pay its price.
