3 Killed in Assassination Attempt on Van Governor
Death toll in the bomb raid in Van increased to three. 24 people were also wounded in the raid. The governor, who survived the attempt of assassination without any injuries, said that the front and back windows of his vehicle burst. 
Earthquake in Dogubeyazit Kills 18
In the earthquake that occured at 01:30 in Ağrı Doğubeyazıt, all of the 67 houses of Yığıçalı village were damaged. 18 people were killed and 21 wounded in the village.  
Saddam Denies Halabja Massacre

Deposed leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein who stood trial yesterday denied all allegations of which he was accused. He said; "I am not involved in the Haleppo massacre (in which 5000 Kurds were killed in 1988). I just heard about this incident." 
Exports Set Record
The Turkish Exporters Assembly TIM announced the export figures of June, saying that exports exceeded 5,3 billion dollars and reached its highest level since 2000.  
5 Apartments, No Tax
Finance Minister Kemal Unakıtan said that 80 thousand taxpayers did not even know the place of the tax department in Istanbul, even they had more than 5 apartments.  
Bomb Of 6.5 Kilos, Prevented On The Last Minute
That a bomb of 6.5 kilos was found in a tire at the parking garage of the Ataturk Airport last Friday, 2.5 hours before P.M. Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived Istanbul for the NATO Summit, was revealed. Only a minute remained for the bomb to explode, when it was neutralized.

The harsh reactions of P.M. Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Israel, after Hamas leader Sheik Ahmed Yasin was killed under Israeli bomb-raids and the tension between Turkey and Israel, concerned Washington. 
German F-4F Planes Were About To Bomb Hijacked Plane
If the airplane which was hijacked by Burhan Bayrambey in the previous day, was shifted a doubtful target, it would be bombed by German F-4F war planes. The airplane was flying from Munich to Istanbul and carrying Turkish passengers.
