Idea Is From Kinzer

The scene of the Ortakoy Mosque and Istanbul Bridge which was chosen for the speech of U.S. President George Bush after the NATO summit, took place on the cover of the book of Stephen Kinzer, the former Representative of New York Times, in Turkey, for 4 years.

Kinzer stated his views which were similar to that of Bush, in his book entitled “Crescent and Star” which was written three years ago. U.S. officials chose this back ground for the speech of Bush to give a message that Turkey was the point which joined the Islamic religion and West civilization.

While the spot of Bush’s speech was determined, first the Esma Soltan Chalet was considered; however the Galatasaray University was preferred. The team from U.S. had reviewed all details for a week, before the speech.
