Reduction In Hair Dye And Slap

The representatives of the Council of Europe asked from Turkey to reduce punishments in the new Turkish Penal Law for those who slapped the prime minister and for newspapers which write about his hair dyeing.

During the meetings of two days at the Parliamentary sub-commission of Justice, the British expert asked sanctions to be implemented to the ones who slapped the P.M. The Turkish side recalled that prison sentence was stipulated for these people and that, “They are sentenced to prison, by all means.”

A German expert said that German P.M. Gerhard Schroder had sued a columnist who wrote that Schroder dyed his hair; however a case was not processed for him. The EU experts said at the meeting that, insulting to the President could be a crime; however the punishments involved were heavy.
