Speaking at the general assembly of THE Turkish Union of Bourses and Chambers (TOBB), Erdogan said that, formulation of construcutive and guiding policies by TOBB like all other NGOs, had big significance for the economy to have a healthy and secure climate. Recalling that the fine balances of the economy were distorted until recently, Erdogan said that "Those who fail to see big dreams, can not take big steps."
Erdogan said that the economy of a country could not only be explained by statistics and that "Therefore I ask from you to support growth and development, with a perspective as broad as possible."
Erdogan said that his government recorded historical success in macroeconomic indicators and achieved record-level improvements in interest rates, inflation, growth, primary suprlus, foreign trade volume and capacity utilization and "Our success in economy happened so fast that, we kept on having one success after another, before being happy of the first. We kept on increasing our expectations, targets."
Erdogan said "With its opposition, our country will begin the negotiating process. December 2004, will be the beginning date of the negotiation process towards EU. With this process, Turkey will be a country where foreign capital will directly flow. The response which we will receive for our determination is something, and our opening our own way as a state of democracy and law is another. We shall continue our path without contradicting ourselves. "
