A Tactic?

The latest Constitutional amendment package ended the presence of the representative of the General Staff, at the Higher Education Board YOK. However the YOK law maintains this membership. If President Sezer ratifies the law, the YOK law will be handicapped.

Prof. Dr. Burhan Kuzu, AKP's Constitutional Cdmmission Chairman, said that the government was in an impasse because of this provision about the General Staff representative in the YOK, Therefore, he said, the President would be empowered to veto the law for  a second time.

Confessing this legal impasse caused by the government, Kuzu said that, once the Constitutional package about YOK  is vetoed, this clause in the law will conflict the Constitution and adapting it to the Constitution will be a necessity. In that case,  President Sezer will have the right to veto the law for the second time.
