At a joint press conference with Karamanlis, Erdogan said that they spent efforts to improve relations between the two countries without needing any third parties. Erdogan voiced gratitude of having a warm reception especially at the home of Karamanlis a day before and that relations between Turkey and Greece improved in the last five years.
Erdogan was received by Greek President Kostis Stefanopulous who told him that the close relations between him and Greek PM Karamanlis, facilitated the talks.
Karamanlis described his talks with Erdogan as friendly, open and very constructive.
He also voiced support to Turkey's EU membership process.
