Historical Seal

Turkish and Greek Cypriot people will cast a historical vote for the future today. 143 thousand people from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and 479 thousand from the Greek Cypriot section will cast either a Yes or No vote to the Annan Plan. If one of the sides votes a No, the referenda will be deemed invalid.

The Annan Plan is the first text submitted to the vote of the people of Cyprus, in a referendum.

The Greek Cypriot side took a decision to end its voting procedure one hour earlier, at the same time with the Turkish side. Both sides will begin voting at 08.00 O’clock and end at 18.000 O’clock. There is a ban on the media until 19.00.

The results of the referenda will be announced by both sides at the same time. TRNC will announce final results in 2 hours.
