The AKP had implemented its Law in February, which encouraged investment and employment in provinces whose incomes were under 1.500 dollars. After this move, the party won the mayoral positions in 25 out of 36 of these provinces.
Among those poor provinces, CHP got only the mayoral post of Sinop, Felicity Party SP in Mardin, Social Democrat Populist Party SHP in Batman, Hakkari, Diyarbakir and Sirnak, and Democratic Left party in Bartin.
In addition to its success in producing mayors in the 25 provinces, AKP increased its votes in these dramatically, over the November 3 elections.
