The court found the State of “Great fault” in the death of Mahmut Murat Ordekci, on December 19 2000 by the security forces who attempted to end the death strikes in prisons, by a mass operation.
The court decided for a compensation to be paid to mother Fatma and father Halil Ordekci for “The grief and suffering they experienced .”
Murat Ordekci, a member of the Turkish Communist labor Party/ Leninist (TKEP/L) organization- was at the age of 28 when he was killed by a G3 bullet
The court ruling said that “While the Return-To-Life Operation should have been planned in a manner to avoid endangering human life, it ended with the death of 12 people and injury of 77, This shows that the operation was not planned well and force was not exercised in measure. The responsible units (Justice and Interior Ministries) have violated the right to live of Ordekci.
