Appeals Court: DEHAP Is Working For PKK

Nuri Ok, the Chief Prosecutor of the Appeals Court said that the protests staged by DEHAP against the imprisonment of PKK leader Ocalan, evidenced that this group had a connection with the terror organization.

Ok made depositions at the Constitutional Court, in the hearing on the banning of the ethnic party. He said that the reasons for the law suit opened to ban the party included, the untrue statements made by the party about its organization before the November 3 general elections even though it was not entitled to contend, and pursued policies to defend, protect and legitimate PKK’s leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Batasuna

Ok added that the Batasuna Party in Spain which had carried out lesser number of terror attacks than PKK in Spain, was banned in that country and that, the EU Commission Spokesman had refrained from commenting on the issue, saying that this was an internal business of Spain.

Ok demanded about 60 members of the party, including its leader Mehmet Abbasoglu, party assembly members and some province leaders to be given the right to defend themselves ; be sentenced to a 5-year political ban and the closure of their party.
