"Mehmet Ali Talat is the PM of TRNC and the champion of the recent opposition against Denktas.  In fact he is a mechanical engineer, who graduatedf rom the Middle East Technical University. He is a revolutionary; that was what he told me in our previous talk. But he is a Marxsits out of measure. He is very realistic.
 
"Talat believes that politics is an art of attaining the best result. Therefore he has digested the idea of carrying out business, with Denktas.
 
"When we reminded him that he was going to remove Denktas from his post as negotiator when he is named Prime Minister, Talat said that "True. But if I would have won the December 14 elections with a big margin, that would be possible. What could I have done when the election outcome drnew? "
 
 
"However, Talat is pleased of having gone to New york, with Denktas. But this does not mean that he gave up his previous criticism. He still says that the refusal of Denktas to discuss on the basis of the Annan Plan, is wrong. "In that case, the Annan Plan would directly become a EU Primary Law; we missed that train" he says.
 
"However Denktas thinks otherwise and says that there had been developments since then, paving way to improve the Plan further.
 
"We disagreed at one point with Talat, as Denktas also did. Talat calls the Turkish Cypriots  "A community" rather than "A people."
