FBI’s sending officials to Ankara was interpreted as the decision of the Bush Administration to capture members of Uzan family , namely Kemal, Yavuz and Hakan Uzan and hand them to justice.
During the talks between the FBI team and the Anti-Snuggling department of the Turkish Security and officials of the Justice Ministry, the “Operational and legal procedures” of the extradition of Uzans, who are expected to be in U.S., were reviewed.
During his visit to U.S. in December, Justice Minister Cemil Cicek was assured by U.S. Justice Secretary John Ascroft that: Wherever they are, Uzans will be captured and extradited to Turkey.
