Serdar Denktas, the leader of junior coalition partner Democrat Party said that they will apply to the Constitutional Court for their three ministers and will not replace them until a decision is taken. President Denktas said that such a provision would effect the rights of many people in the future.

The Chief Prosecutor of TRNC notified Denktas that DP's three ministers should be replaced, upon the objection raised by the  National Unity Party which said that these did not live in Northern Cyprus for three years and theerfore can not be ministers. The cabinet led by PM Mehmet Ali Talat was approved by President Denktas on January 13. Democrat Party has four ministers at the cabinet.
