Historical visit
41 years after the European Union signed the Ankara agreement for Turkey's membership perspective, the President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi arrived in Ankara today. In his visit, Prodi is accompanied by Commissioner for Enlargement, Gunther Verheugen. |

EU Commission President Romano Prodi will arrive in Ankara today as the official guest of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. EU Commissioner Gunther Verheugen will accompany Prodi, who will be the first Commission President visiting Turkey since the Ankara Agreement was signed in 1963. |
