Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan will ask from EU to specify a date for Turkey to commence accession talks. Erdogan, who went to Brussels to attend the EU Summit, was briefed by his advisors, diplomats and EU Secretariat General on Wednesday. They recommended him to tell EU leaders, “Turkey will be in a position to deserve to be granted a date so as to commence accession talks by the end of 2004. You should grant this right to Turkey.”

Apart from that, Erdogan will tell European leaders that they would start to see the implementation of reforms regarding especially the structure and operations of the National Security Board (MGK) and education and broadcast in Kurdish.

Erdogan will say that the elections in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is very important and that any intervention of Turkey is out of question.
