U.S. Give Up Sending Turkish Troops

While publicizing the rotation plan of her troops in Iraq, U.S. did not include Turkish troops in her projections of military force for 6 months later. This reportedly indicates that the Bush administration gave up the idea of sending Turkish troops to Iraq because of the reaction of the majority of Iraqis and in line with the views of Paul Bremer, the Civilian Administrator of U.S. in Iraq.

American officials said; Britain and Poland command the two international divisions in Iraq. This is the crucial point for Turkey. Sending a third, that is, Turkish troops to Iraq is no longer a part of the plans of U.S. According to observers this is the most important evidence that, despite what they claim regarding their military cooperation, Washington gave up the idea of sending Turkish troops to Iraq.
