Parliament Is Reserved For Permit Talks

Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan announced that in 10-15 days, the government would ask for an Authorization from Parliament to send troops to Iraq. Erdogan reminded that Turkey had troops in 28 countries and that, “Parliament itself can take a step on the issue or it can authorize the government to do so.” Erdogan said that the Joint Staff conducted the talks on the location of the Turkish troops to be sent to Iraq.

Following the statements of the Prime Minister that the government would ask from Parliament to issue an authorization in 10-15 days to send troops to Iraq, the agenda of Parliament was arranged in a way to include a possible session on the issue. The agenda of Parliament for October 8 and 9 was freed. Moreover the main item on the agenda of the Cabinet meeting on Monday will be the permit for sending troops to Iraq.

The permit, which is planned to be in the form of an authorization rather than on directly sending troops, will be taken up in the group meeting of Justice and Development Party (AKP) on Tuesday. In this meeting, Erdogan, who does not want to fall into a position similar to that of the March 1 permit, will try to understand the inclination of deputies.
