“They Pointed Their Guns And Slipped Sacks On Our Heads”
Emel Begler, the cook detained by the U.S. forces together with Turkish soldiers was released after 48 hours. Begler said, “American soldiers entered by breaking the doors. They pointed guns towards Turkish soldiers. I tried to prevent them. They hit me with butt of their rifles.”
About 30 Weapons And 106 Thousand Dollars Are Lost
A delegation from Foreign Ministry, headed by Hidayet Eris, Foreign Ministry Silopi Communications Bureau representative, examined the bureau raided by American soldiers. Eris said that military satellite system in the bureau was totally damaged and about thirty weapons (M-16 and AK-47 type), computers, maps, satellite pictures, wirelesses, and 106 thousand dollars in the safes weer lost. Eris said that a jeep and an automobile were also lost and equipments in the bureau were almost totally destroyed.
Eris said that Iraq Kurdistan Democrat Party officials said, “You are our guests. This is a humiliating incident for us.”
One Of The 11 Soldiers was A Colonel
An American military official said in his statement to Reuters, “Yes there was an operation. The U.S. soldiers are currently trying to determine the ethnic identities of those captured.” According to the sources of Reuters in Middle East, among detained there was a Colonel who had been deported by American and British forces because of his “suspicious actions.”
