All Eleven Dams of Uzan, Gone
Energy Minister Hilmi Guler anonunced that the electrict generation, transmission and distribution plants of CEAS and Kepez Electric Companies of the Uzan group have been confiscated. Eleven dams of the company, including the Berke Dam have thus been transferred over to the Ministry.

During his 5.5-hour deposition at the parliamentary commisison Friday, Former Prime Minister and former leader of Motherland Party Mesut Yilmaz said "The arms of gangs have leaked into the State." 
Brazier referendum in Berlin

A brazier controversy emerged in Berlin with the arrival of the summer because of those people making picnics with braziers in the green fields. The opposition party Christian Democrat Union (CDU) launched a campaign with the slogan of “Yes to picnic, no to brazier!”  
Arinc: We have no tendency to force women to wear headgear

Speaking to the Asai Simbun Newspaper during his visit to Japan, Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc said that headgear was a personal preference related with the life style and they had no tendency to force the people to wear it.

In the general board meeting of the World Association of Newspapers (WAN) held in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland, the union decided to convene its general board to be held in 2004 in Istanbul, upon the offer of Aydin Dogan, the President of the Turkish Publishers Union and the Administrative Board President of the Dogan Holding.

Hiroshi Kimura, the Global Deputy President of the Japan Tobacco International (JTI), said that they were experienced in privatization tenders in Japan and he believed they would be able to respond to the demands of the government for the privatization of Tekel (Monopolies). 
Government forwards the 6th harmonization package to Parliament
The government forwarded the 6th Harmonization package to Parliament on Thursday despite the objections of military officials. The arrangement that allowed sanctuaries in apartment buildings was excluded from the package. The package was forwarded to Parliament was sealed “very urgent”.  
U.S. inspectors to Turkish ports
The New York Times newspaper reported that the U.S. administration decided to send inspectors at the ports of Moslem countries to prevent the delivery of mass destruction weapons, in the framework of the measures it has taken after the September 11 raids.  
Cocaine operation in Turco-British collaboration
A man and a woman, who attempted to enter Turkey with 3 kilograms of cocaine that was liquefied and absorbed in towels, were captured and detained at the Ataturk Airport in an operation launched by Turkish and British police forces in collaboration.
